What is Cadent iTero™?

Finally, a Digital Impression System That Fits Your Practice … and Your Budget.

Designed to replace the uncomfortable and imprecise method of conventional impression taking, the Cadent iTero™ digital impression system is an exciting new technology that is light years ahead of cumbersome and expensive digital impression systems available today.

iTero—powered by proprietary imaging technology—enables the dentist to take a digital scan of the patient’s teeth and bite, make any necessary adjustments in real-time, and then transmit the file via a wireless Internet connection to a Cadent-partnering laboratory(Technics) for further processing. From there the digital file is transmitted to Cadent where a model is milled. The physical model is then sent to the laboratory where a highly precise physical restoration is created. With significant benefits such as increased patient satisfaction, improved clinical outcomes, and enhanced office efficiencies, iTero will change your impression of digital impressions.

A Lasting First Impression–Benefits to You as a Dentist

Efficiency/Ease
The learning curve for dentists and clinicians adopting iTero is modest. A Cadent certified Clinical Trainer provides comprehensive training to get your office up and running in just a matter of days. iTero also fosters easier communication channels between the dentist and laboratory. What’s more, should questions arise, there is always a digital file for the laboratory and dentist to reference while consulting about a case on-line.

Predictability
The iTero software guides you every step of the way through the scanning process. The time to complete the scanning sequence routinely requires just 3 to 5 minutes, about the time required for conventional impression materials to set. And, with no time devoted to preparing impressions trays and to clean-up, the time savings are predictable. Better still, the unmatched precision of iTero crowns requires minimal adjustment, another source of predictable time savings.

Real-time, Digital Display
The unmatched visualization of the tooth prep area is one of the most lauded benefits of iTero digital impression system. Dentists visualize and analyze the prep area from a full 360 degrees. Analytical tools are also available allowing you to measure and verify proper occlusal reduction for example. All of which leads to better fitting prosthetics and reduced adjustment time for increased patient satisfaction.
Patient Experience / Image

Dental practices utilizing the iTero digital impression system will enjoy a distinct advantage over those who adhere to the conventional impression method. With iTero, the patient becomes engaged in the process as they see their dental work on-screen. This provides the dentist with a wonderful educational tool, which helps improve patient acceptance.

Moreover, offices equipped with iTero, project a cutting-edge image that patients will appreciate. It is the same image that may increase your patient referral base.

Reduced Consumables
With iTero, the expense and hassles associated with trays and putty are a thing of the past. No more mixing materials or tying up valuable chair space waiting for a timer to go off.

Magic of the Machine – How it Works

A Perfect Starting Point
A revolutionary intra-oral scanner is at the heart of iTero. Guided by voice prompts, the dentist takes several scans of the teeth and the patient’s bite with a hand-held wand until a complete digital image is captured. With each scan, iTero software captures 100,000 data points in a patient’s mouth.

Heading Off Problems Before They Arise –Visualize the Work Area
The digital models are magnified and displayed while the patient is still in the chair. This enhanced visualization, plus real-time analytical tools allows the dental professional to make adjustments if necessary before completing the scanning process, heading off potential issues that might otherwise have gone unnoticed until the seating appointment. For example, the dentist has the ability to view the reduction area from any angle, allowing them to measure and verify proper occlusal reduction.

Point and Click Simplicity – Digital Transfer
Once approved, the clinician sends the digital image via a wireless Internet connection to a Cadent-partnering dental laboratory (Technics). There is no need to schedule a pick up or deal with shipping forms; the digital scan arrives within minutes of being transmitted. The laboratory reviews the digital file and sends it electronically to Cadent’s manufacturing facility for milling into the physical model. What’s more, if there are any concerns discrepancies, the technician can simply refer to the digital scan for clarification and even consult the dentist who is looking at the same digital model.

Unmatched Accuracy
Once received by Cadent, a physical model is created that is unmatched in accuracy by any hand-poured model. iTero works with all types of restorative materials used in dental crown and bridge production. The physical model and die are milled and sent to the laboratory for completion as normal. The laboratory applies the aesthetics and delivers the end-result—a beautiful, precise-fitting restoration—to the dentist all within standard service times. After shipping, the dentist simply seats the crown or bridge. The noteworthy difference being the near zero rejection rate for iTero prosthetics, which in the past, would show up as costly and time-consuming remakes.

Testimonials & Clinical Studies

Dentists who try the iTero digital impression system welcome the technology as a valuable tool in their arsenal to better serve their patients. However, don’t take our word for it. Here is what they have to say.

Following a demonstration, dentists were positive about the iTero digital impression system:

98% indicate “greater visualization of the tooth prep area”
93% welcome the “elimination of impression materials and trays”
93% appreciate the “real-time software evaluation of the tooth prep area”
90% praise the value of “looking at the digital impression while consulting with a laboratory”
84% “believe the technology will add to their image as a high-quality practice”

iTero was clinically tested by practices over a 24-month period with over 1600 cases seated. Other than good tissue management, there are no special preparation or retraction techniques needed, and coating of the teeth is not required as it is with other systems.
